The Silver Queen was built by the Huckins Yacht Corporation, the oldest yacht builder in the America that is still in business. Frank Pembroke Huckins founded his namesake company in Jacksonville, Florida in 1928. Specializing in custom built original designs; the list of Huckins owners is a who’s who of Americana. Frank Huckins was a talented designer and astute businessman with a flair for the zest of living life.
With a family history in the lumber business, he gravitated to building the finest wood boats of all time. His genius design for the famous World War II PT boats won a historic U.S. Navy competition, and those sleek, efficient lines can be seen in the Silver Queen hull today.
The Silver Queen was constructed in 1969. With a pedigree ownership of a major US corporation for most of her life, the Silver Queen enjoyed continuous improvements that her guests have admired through the years. We have been told, both Presidents and Vice-Presidents have relished her accommodations. Now in private hands, her owners have spared no expense keeping her in pristine form. Recently, she has seen numerous upgrades to stay current with the latest advances in the yachting industry. With her signature Tuna Tower and classic lines, she stands out from other less distinguished yachts. Accommodations & Amenities
The Silver Queen is a Sportfish 80 Fairform Flyer with a length of 80 feet and a beam of 20 feet. When built, she was the largest sportfish yacht in existence. Her expansive foredeck has plenty of room to enjoy the vistas and features a large padded sundeck and benches to take advantage the sunshine.
She features an enclosed, air-conditioned fly bridge and spacious, elegant salon, highlighted by luxurious gloss teak cabinetry. Appointments include a leather wrap-around couch and large open dining table with seating for up to six with ease.
The aft Master Stateroom is the full width of the vessel and appointed with a king size bed. The two forward staterooms are complimented with queen size beds that can convert to two singles. All staterooms present ensuite private heads and showers. Blow dryers are also provided.
Hand crafted of Philippine mahogany, the wood hull was built with an outer shell of epoxy resin fiberglass giving her incredible strength and durability.
A state-of-the-art watermaker produces more than enough fresh water to allow for long hot showers. The commercial ice maker ensures your drinks will always have plenty of ice.
All spaces are air conditioned with individual controls to ensure a comfortable environment even on the hottest days.
A complete entertainment system with speakers throughout is complemented by a large-screen TV in the Salon and includes satellite radio; or, you can plug in your PDA to play your favorite song or playlists. A variety of DVD movies are available, but feel free to bring along your personal choices.
A full size laundry is readily available for your needs.
The aft section is designed as a traditional fishing cockpit with a fighting chair set up to tackle big game fish. When not fishing, the cockpit quickly converts to a roomy multi-level social area. A teak table replaces the chair for grilling or staging cocktails. The transom door compliments the ladder-equipped swim platform, allowing easy access to the warm inviting waters. A full size awning makes the cockpit comfortable during those sun-filled days.
The foredeck is expansive, with teak lounge chairs and a large padded sundeck for sun-bathing and napping. You will also find padded seats, great for sampling the sunrise at sea with a camera and coffee in hand, or sharing details of the day’s plan or yesterday’s adventure.
The flying bridge is enclosed and air conditioned. When underway, this is a popular gather spot with great views. You may even get a chance to steer the Silver Queen from the Captain’s chair. And, for the best view in yachting, climb up to the tuna tower. Three stories above the waterline, you are afforded commanding vistas of the sea, islands, and waterways.
The Silver Queen is also is equipped with a 28 foot Jupiter center-console tender boat. This is used for excursions and short fishing trips. In addition, a 13 foot Boston Whaler with jet drive is used for snorkeling excursions. We offer a unique Tow Tour which we lazily pull snorkelers across some of the most amazing reefs on the planet.
